Tri Community Mediation is a nonprofit organization that offers mediation and conflict resolution services in Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset Counties. In order to make mediation accessible to everyone, we provide mediation at no cost to participants. We are a program of the community, by the community, and for the community. It is our mission to create a more just and peaceful Lower Eastern Shore.

In 2003 the Community Mediation Initiative (CMI) was founded as part of what would become the Bosserman Center for Conflict Resolution at Salisbury University. In 2015 we became a freestanding nonprofit organization, Tri Community Mediation, to more inclusively serve the entire Lower Shore community. Our office is located on Salisbury’s Downtown Plaza.

We are largely funded by grants and donations, and also offer fee-based conflict management trainings for organizations. Funders include: the Maryland Judiciary’s Mediation and Conflict Resolution Office (MACRO); the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore; Community Mediation Maryland; Maryland Humanities/National Endowment for the Humanities; Rural Maryland Council; the Ignatius DiNardo Foundation; Keith Campbell Foundation; Migrant Clinicians Network; Salisbury Wicomico Economic Development; Wicomico County Local Management Board; and others.

ABOUT ME

Helena (Lena) is a volunteer mediator with (TCM) Tri Community Mediation. She was also a past staff member

with TCM. Currently, she serves on the Board of Tri Community Mediation as co-chairperson. Helena believes collaborative discussion around our issues and challenges is very important.  Incorporating conflict resolution through free, confidential, and voluntary mediation should be available to the entire community and should be offered as a resource to all.

In addition, Lena serves her community as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc; NAACP (Wicomico County Branch). She also serves on the Boards of the Chipman Cultural Center and the Meditate and Thrive Kriya Yoga Center.

ABOUT ME

Madeana Clark joined the TCM team as an Intern from Salisbury University. She is currently a senior at the university

studying Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution. Her duties include case management, intakes, and scheduling mediation sessions. She also participates in networking for the organization by coordinating and attending events within the community.

Madeana is mother to two sweet boys, Kalel and Grayson. Her partner, Robert, and her have been local residents of Worcester county since 2008. They recently became first time home owners and are beyond excited to plant some deep roots into a new house in Berlin, MD.

ABOUT ME

Logan serves as the organization's Executive Director after working as the center's Mediation Program Coordinator since early 2022. Logan completed her Basic Mediation Training when she was a young teenager in the teen mediator program. Logan also completed advanced training for Parenting Plan mediations. Following her training, she used the skillset in many different environments before returning to TCM after completing college. Logan is deeply invested in the community TCM serves and other underserved populations. She strives to reinvigorate Tri Community Mediation by engaging more community members and volunteers to propel the mediation movement forward.

In her free time, Logan enjoys being outside, creating art, watching movies, practicing and teaching yoga, and spending time with loved ones and friends.

ABOUT ME

Web Smith has been a

volunteer mediator since 2018 and, following his retirement from the Applied Physics Lab (Laurel, MD) and subsequent move to southern Delaware in 2020, has been supporting Tri Community Mediation as a volunteer and part-time staff member. In addition to Basic Community Mediations, he co-mediates Parenting Plan, Re-entry, and Day of Trial mediations. Web’s outside activities include cooking, pickleball, fishing, and photography. He is also a volunteer with the Red Cross and is involved with disaster response, logistics, and blood drives.

He says, while mediating is not always “fun”…it is always a good feeling when a mediation appears to be (Non-judgmentally) successful for the participants.

NEED BIO FROM RICHARD

ABOUT ME

Missy Joy is our new Mediation Program Coordinator. She is a Salisbury

University alum who graduated in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolution. In her previous jobs, she helped others resolve situational and personal conflicts, so her knowledge and experience will be useful for our team.

She likes to stay home in her free time with her best friend and their 4 cats and 2 dogs. Weeding her flower beds is like garden therapy to her. Her 7 grandchildren are a blessing to her, and she has made her home and backyard their home away from home.

ABOUT ME

Wyatt Duncan is our current AmeriCorps member and one of our case managers. He is currently

in his second year with TCM. His primary duties include intakes, case management, and scheduling, although he performs a variety of roles as well. He is very familiar with outreach, data management, and our various programs. Wyatt also regularly co-mediates both community and parenting plan cases. In addition, Wyatt assists with the re-entry program, coordinating mediation sessions for incarcerated people and their families and loved ones.

Some of Wyatt's favorite things include reading, writing, tea, and music. He spends much of his free time relaxing and cooking, when he gets the opportunity to do so.
